Stop at gas station in Mississippi. Stare off with Auburn fans. Question posed; which is higher: our gas bill or Team Hangover's liquor bill?

Ate lunch at McDonald's in Gulfport, MS, where we discussed The Princess Diaries and Footloose. Bret heard from Red Tomato (aka Gina), and we heard about the Nokia commercial, err, I mean the Fan Fest.

We stopped at the Louisiana Visitor Center for a Kodak moment with the Louisiana shaped sign. Unfortunately, there were no Hokies nearby to take our picture, so this one Auburn lady took it. However, she said that we had to lose the game since she did so. We'll see about that ...

Huge bridge over Lake Pontchartrain.

(Editor's Note: It was The Causeway over the lake. It's the longest bridge in the world.)

NEW ORLEANS!! After circling the block several times.

(Editor's Note: Some revisionist history is in effect here. Since many of the entries for the two days in the city were written after the fact, the dates have been changed to protect the innocent.)

1/2, Hotel

Oops, I guess I got too excited to finish the previous entry. Well anyway, we circled the block several times so we could figure out where to park Midnight Eagle and Silver Fox. We eventually drove through an abandoned lot to get to the parking lot. Enough about that - let's get to the good stuff!

After unloading our stuff and getting checked in, we went to find the Fan Fest, Sadly, we got there just as the band was playing the Hokie Pokie, and the celebration was ending. But, we managed to meet up with Team Hangover. We ate dinner at Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville. From there, we split into two groups - one group walked back to the hotel via Bourbon Street, while the other group tried their luck at the casino. After we all got back together, we ran into Fred, and then we went to Preservation Hall to listen to some jazz music.

1/2, Hotel (Continuation)

Just got back from the game, but that's for a later entry. Back to last night. We got some beignets at Café Du Monde, and boy were they messy-but-good. The walk back to the hotel was foggy, which was kind of a cool atmosphere to end the night with. We were exhausted when we got back, and we got to bed pretty quick. Katie got in right as we went to bed, and she had to leave early in the morning, so we sadly didn't get to spend much time with her. I now relinquish the journal to someone else.
